Froomsgate House - Bristol
December 2013 to October 2015
Froomsgate House, a 15 storey former office block, is situated on Rupert Street. Completed in 1971, it is currently the 6th tallest building in Bristol according to Emporis (not including St. Mary Redcliffe church). The tower is named after the river Frome, as the river and its medieval culverts run beneath the site. Froom being the historical name of the river.
Froomsgate House stands at 63 m (207 ft) high. The building had 1,368 m2(14,730 sq ft) of office space, serviced by three lifts. Notable tenants included the Crown Prosecution Service Southwest. The brick clad block’s open plan office floors are no longer suitable for business use, and will instead provide 438 bedrooms for the city’s booming student population with the new name Fusion Tower.
A mosaic inside the building illustrated the 17th century Foomsgate map. However, since 2014 it's no longer present. Luckily I got photo before it's removal.
