"I find beauty in decay. I like to see nature conquering what man has left. I believe that old buildings have a soul, and when I photograph these places I try to capture a piece of that soul"

Leri Tweed Mill - Talybont
October 2016
Another mill close by to the Celuan Mill and as equally as beautiful. Some incredible machinery in here. Like walking back in time to one of Wales bygone industries.

Celuan Wool Mill - Talybont
October 2016
Quite easily one of the most beautiful textile mills I have been to. Amazingly this mill still contains most of not all of it's original equipment, still in situ. We spent much longer than expected in here!

Penallta Colliery
May 2016
Once a huge part of the Welsh coal industry this colliery now stands derelict and forgotten. The headstocks still stand proud despite the site looking rather forlorn.

Coryton Refinery Power Station
April 2016
Given that the refinery had mostly been demolished apart from a huge network of pipes and a few remaining buildings that incorporated massive chimneys, the power station was all but untouched. Four of the original five (one looks to of been removed some years ago) turbines still lay in situ. All different in era, type and origin.

Spondon H Power Station
April 2016
Probably one of the best power stations that I have visited. Some beautiful Metropolitan-Vickers turbines still in situ with the adjoining boiler house that was clearly defunct decades earlier than the turbines here. Over two visits I got to see most of it apart from the control room.

Tower Colliery
April 2016
A beautiful colliery that closed in 2008. Tower Colliery was the oldest deep level coal mine in the country.

Lostock Power Station
March 2016
Not particularly large when it comes to power stations but this is one beautiful place to explore. It has pretty much everything. Turbines, boiler house, control rooms etc all left derelict for 16 years.

Wansbrough Paper Mill
February 2016
An incredible paper mill that dates back to 1750 and a vital part of the town of Watche that unfortunately closed in 2015. Huge machinery, much of it still switched on, still in-situ as well a beautiful turbine inside of the power house. A top notch industrial explore full of vintage machinery and signage.

Gloster Aircraft Company - Bentham Works
January 2016
Rich in aviation history, Bentham works was the site where the very first British Jet powered aircraft was tested and built. After this the company built and tested further prototypes of some of the most classic early Jet powered aircraft. The buildings are still in great condition and a must see.

Longfords Mill - Stroud
August 2015
Longfords Mill has mostly been converted into housing using the listed buildings that once made it up. All that remains is the 'Old Mill' and the Engine House. The best part of this is the beautiful turbine, steam engine, motors and alternators that are still in situ. It really does feel like stepping back in time. A beautiful example of untouched industrial decay.

Intier Automotive - Bristol
August 2015
I found this to be a rather interesting old factory. Despite it being almost entirely stripped it still had that atmosphere that accompanies old industrial buildings. You can tell where they kept on expending the factory as it grew. There are newer and much older sections each looking different.

Sharpness Grain Silo
August 2015
The place is unlike the mills in Bristol docks for more reasons than one, but mostly that it's completely absent of pigeons and pigeon shit. This made it rather nice as whilst dusty and full of cobwebs it was a pleasant explore.

Morlands Tannery - Glastonbury
July 2015
Largely stripped but still retains a lot of character throughout. This historic building has been part of Glastonbury for years but now lies derelict and neglected. I didn't have my camera on me so had to make use of my phone instead. I aimed to come back here to get some better photos but, unfortunately, on the 23rd/24th of October vandals set the building alight.

Granary No. 5 - Avonmouth
May 2015
This was the third silo, abandoned inside the Avonmouth Docks, that we gained access to. It's a slimline but otherwise rather enormous building. Again, easily seen from the M5 motorway. This was the hardest to get to within the docks but we visited late at night and another time in the day.

Lafarge Cement Works - Westbury
April 2015
This place reminded me of Pyestock in many ways. Dusty, vast, huge bits of machinery and a nice level of decay.

Welton Bibby and Baron - Midsomer Norton
April 2015
A rather large factory that appears to of been built at different periods of time. The factory closed a few years prior and production moved to a newer facility.

Mckechnie Brass
February 2015
Despite having most of the machinery removed this was a great place to visit. The factory is vast and still retains 50's posters on the walls.

NT Frost Electroplating
February 2015
A lovely old building with a lot of character. It's rather odd however as the company took over several other adjoining buildings which were all building differently at different times. Still a very enjoyable explore.

A Bond Tobacco Warehouse
January 2015
This is one building that I have been wanting to see the inside of for years. One night me and a friend had a walk around the bottom not expecting anything at all when suddenly we seen some potential. I only had my iPhone on me so had to make do. Mostly stripped inside but still very interesting.

Spillers Silo - Avonmouth
November 2014
The second of the three remaining silos left abandoned and forgotten inside the Avonmouth docks. It's a huge building that can easily be seen from the M5 motorway. Virtually all the equipment still remains inside.

Tone Mills
2014 & 2015
This factory is an incredible sight, and is “a near complete example of a 19th century cloth dyeing and finishing works”. It really is like stepping back in time. It was the last woollen mill in the West country.

Healings Mill - Tewkesbury
May 2014
A beautiful derelict mill that lies on the banks of the river Avon with lots of equipment still in situ. It's future is uncertain, with talks of it being demolished very soon. Part of the mill is visibly subsiding into the river.

Spillers Millenium Mills
April 2014
An enormous derelict art deco flour mill that closed in 1981. Often described as a "decaying industrial anachronism standing defiant and alone in the surrounding subtopia".

Battersea Power Station
Throughout 2013
For many, this is one of the most iconic buildings in London. Lavished with art deco detailing inside this remains the largest brick building in Europe. Built in two phases but decommissioned in 1983.

CWM Coke Works
September 2012
The constant rain and the howling wind engulfed the site the whole time we were here. A fantastic place, but riddled with hidden dangers which only made it more fun! We certainly had a few close calls.

NGTE Pyestock
December 2011 & several other dates
The mighty behemoth of an industrial site that is Pyestock. It truly deserved the title of "The holy grail of industrial sites in the UK". Everything at Pyestock was on an epic scale. I thoroughly enjoyed every one of my visits. I just wish I went more often.
