Oslo Nuclear Fallout Shelters
December 2015
These two fallout shelters were constructed under Oslo as civil defense measures during the Cold War. The intention was to create an enclosed space specially designed to protect occupants from radioactive debris or fallout resulting from a nuclear explosion. Both of these still have working lights, electricity, showers, flushing toilets and original supplies still in their wooden crates. These supplies consisted of gas masks, tools, lanterns, dosimeters, stretchers, beds, buckets, pumps, medical supplies and numerous other items. All from a bygone era.
