Standish Hospital

February 2013 and August 2014
Standish Hospital was a former park and country house located in Standish, Gloucestershire owned by Lord Sherborne. It was taken over by the Red Cross during WW1 for soldiers sent there for recovery, it was named Standish VA hospital.
In 1921 the hospital became a Tuberculosis Sanatorium. It then went on to specialise in orthopaedic and respiratory care as well. After 1948, the hospital was taken over by the Gloucester, Stroud and the Forest Hospital Management Committee, and became a general hospital where it was enlarged substantially.
In December 2004 Standish Hospital closed. It's fate is still uncertain despite plans to turn it into a 'Social care centre' announced in 2010.
